Big respect to Lukaduke and Cognizant for bringing Stout Style up North. It was a positive experience for me as Portland always proves to be. Reached for Ital food and good reasonings amongst good people.. After some relaxation and socialization, we hit the ALEHOUSE and set everything up. Ready to goooo...
The Alehouse has a nice atmosphere and some interesting oddities. Many of the seats are wooden swings hanging from the ceiling.. Umm - the interesting window in the bathroom... i'll just leave it at that - oddities! hahah. They have Guinness on tap but it was out that nite.. true me name STOUT so it coulda got ugly - haha - but Crown Royal a do it..
Anyway, the night kicked off Lukaduke started warming up the scene. The Ale house had a pretty good start of a crowd for a Sunday and everyone was loosening up to the heavy selections that Cognizant was reaching for. Then I came on and kept the vibes at a foundation and conscious pace.
As Lukaduke took center stage for the second time, the place started to get hot. Local artists Dequhn & Super Dread who were there from the start of the nite came up and blessed the place with some live reggae talent. That was a real treat, especially having heard some exclusive music earlier courtesy of Lukaduke. Lukaduke then kept the place hot with more fire-filled tunes.
I came back to the turntables and rinsed a couple of tunes on the armagideon riddim (D BROWN) and then Automatic Champion attacked the microphone to repp his style.. str8 rawness and lyrics! He spit a few tunes but I coulda been smoother on the back up.. then I finished off the nite with vinyl and steel spinning on the tables. I mixed the final set up with a taste of hype but kept some foundation heavy in the mix.
It was a fun nite as well as a great chance to represent my sound. Nuff respect to Cognizant - I gotta get ya down in the bean! Thanks to everyone that came out and made it a good experience: Lukaduke, A/C, Super Dread, Dequhn, Jeff, King Alpha, Amanda, and all ME Massive.
